Enjoy England website has the UJ on it instead of the COSG. Same applies to their foreign links, they show the UJ as the English flag. Hold your mouse over it, it says England

http://www.enjoyengland.com/

Please take a moment to tell them their "mistake" -

I fairness to them they are not claiming it as the flag of England.

They are using, as many do, the UK flag to represent the English language.

This is an area that we perhaps need to campaign for more - if you want to represent the English language, use the English flag to do it, not the UK flag.

If it wasn't a website "dedicated" to England then I could accept it but it's not appropriate on a website promoting England.

Ask yourself one question - would they use it for a Scottish website? In all fairness, would they F***

well said tyke. They wouldn't and if they did there would probably be hell up.

They are still using the union flag for the English language, least its not the stars and stripes flag which i have seen some websites using for the English language.

I'm glad to see that they dont use the original "regions" mapped out by john prescott.

Ah, but, a Scottish flag would surely represent Scots Gaelic the same as the Welsh flag would represent Welsh Celtic. You can still wriggle your way out of this Tyke, don't give up. Laughing

A misogynist if ever I saw one Tyke. Give him the cold shoulder.

Just looked up flags on this site and low and behold the only flag that is sold out is OURS. I hope that is because of demand rather than minimal stock levels.

But surely an English flag is the correct one to use for the English language, because it should refer to the state of origin

eg. Japanese = Japan
Italian = Italy
German = Germany (not Austria)
French = France (not Ivory Coast etc.)
Spanish = Spain (not Argentina etc.)

Eh? The name English comes from England. Otherwise the language we're speaking now would be British.

Am I missing something - I have been on and can not see the UJ - Have they taken it off because of your complaints - On the home page they have the French, Italian, German and Dutch flags but I can not see (via the link provided) any UJ.

By the way - The replacing of the CoSG with the UJ is a big deal and we should complain at every oppotunity.
